The grant can be used for business expenses such as rent, utilities and wages, for which no other government support, is available.

Three different grant amounts will be available depending on the decline in turnover experienced during the restrictions:

  • $10,500 for a decline of 50% or more
  • $15,000 for a decline of 70% or more.

Micro Business Grant

A grant of up to $1,500 will be available for eligible small businesses and sole traders with an annual turnover between $30,000 and $75,000 from late July.

New Business Support Payment

A further grant of between $1,500 and $10,000 per week will also be available for businesses based on their payroll numbers as of 13th of July 2021. These businesses must have an annual turnover of between $75,000 and $50 million who can demonstrate a 30% decrease in turnover as a result of COVID lockdown restrictions and must have maintained their employees during this time.

For non-employing businesses, such as sole traders, the payment will be set at $1,000 per week.
